Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
- In a bowl, add the biscuit mix and create a well in the center for the buttermilk.
- Pour the buttermilk into the well and stir it into the mix until a soft dough forms. Add more buttermilk if the dough is too dry.
- Gently fold in the finely chopped country ham, ensuring it is distributed evenly throughout the dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- Fold the dough in half and pat it out again to add layers for flakiness.
- Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-14 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
- Let them cool for about 5 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Serve warm, plain or with butter or honey. Pairs well with scrambled eggs or cheese. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
