  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed Ensure it is completely thawed before using.
  • 0.5 pound deli ham, finely chopped Freshly cooked ham can also be used.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Can experiment with different cheeses like gouda or mozzarella.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
  3. Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped ham over the mustard, and then top evenly with the shredded cheddar.
  5. Starting from one long side, roll the pastry up tightly into a log.
  6. Place the log seam-side down and chill for 10 to 15 minutes if it feels soft.
  7. Slice the log into 1/2-inch rounds and arrange the spirals cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the spirals are puffed and deeply golden.
  2. Let them cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving plate. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

These spirals are best served warm but can also be enjoyed at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage. Experiment with herbs for added flavor.
