Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces thick bone-in pork chops
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix (about 1 ounce)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Consider using low-sodium for a healthier option.

Method

Preparation
  1. Lightly spread a layer of the sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Place the pork chops on top in an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the pork chops.
  4. Pour the barbecue sauce across the top, covering the meat as evenly as you can.
  5. Scatter the remaining onions over everything.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or until the pork chops are tender and cooked through and the onions have softened into the sauce.
  2. Spoon some of the onion glaze over the pork chops before serving.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles to soak up the flavorful onion glaze. For extra flavor, marinate the pork chops in barbecue sauce before cooking. If a thicker sauce is desired, remove the lid in the last hour of cooking to let some steam escape.
