Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups frozen sweet peas Use fresh peas if available for better taste.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Adjust the amount of butter to preference.
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth Water can be used instead of broth.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the frozen sweet peas and chicken broth.
  2. Set the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  3. Once the liquid is simmering, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan and let the peas cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the lid and continue to simmer on low for another 3–5 minutes.
  5. Add the butter to the saucepan and stir until fully melted.
  6. Taste and add a pinch of salt if desired.
  7. Let the peas sit for 2–3 minutes on the warm burner to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve warm.

Notes

These peas pair well with grilled meats, rice, or can be added to salads and pasta. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
