  • 1 box yellow cake mix (about 15.25 ounces) Can substitute with spice cake mix for a seasonal flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Add more for a stronger spice flavor if desired.
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar Adjust based on desired sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick) Drizzle evenly over the cake mix.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch oven-safe glass baking dish.
  3. Spread the frozen apple slices evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples, then toss lightly.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple layer without stirring it in.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter as evenly as possible over the cake mix.
  7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until the apples are tender and bubbling and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let the dessert rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave if desired.
