Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground beef (80–85% lean) Ground beef should be shaped into 6 square patties.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounces each)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (16 ounces) Contains 8 large biscuits.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch glass casserole dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape this mixture into 6 square patties and arrange them in the casserole dish.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Pour this mixture over the beef patties.
  4. Tear the biscuit dough into pieces and place them evenly over the beef.
Baking
  1. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, checking for browning. Then, bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and the beef reaches at least 160°F.
Serving
  1. Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in some chopped onions or garlic with the ground beef. You can also add some vegetables like peas or corn to the casserole for a nutritious boost. If you prefer a crispy topping, bake the casserole a little longer or broil it for a few minutes at the end.
