Ingredients

  • For the filling:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • For the crust:
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • For the topping:
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet or a large baking sheet.
  2. Brown the beef in a separate pan over medium-high heat, drain the excess fat, and stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the meat is well-coated.
  3. Arrange the crescent triangles in the skillet in a circle. Place the wide bases overlapping in the center and the points hanging over the edge of the pan (it should look like a sunburst).
  4. Spoon the beef mixture in an even ring over the wide bases of the dough, then top generously with shredded cheese.
  5. Fold the points of the triangles back over the filling toward the center, tucking the points under the inner base to form a secure, circular ring.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is deeply golden-brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  7. Fill the center of the ring with a large dollop of sour cream, diced tomatoes, and green onions just before bringing it to the table.
  8. Serve hot by pulling individual sections away for a perfectly portioned taco treat that everyone will love.
