  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter and cheddar cheese until well blended.
  4. Add the cayenne pepper and flour to the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Decide whether to pipe or roll the dough.
Shaping and Baking
  1. For piping, use a star tip to pipe strips onto the prepared baking sheets.
  2. For rolling, roll the dough into a rectangle and cut it into strips.
  3. Bake the cheese straws for 12 to 16 minutes, or until they are golden.
  4. Cool on racks and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Store cooled cheese straws in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze separated with parchment paper.
