Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed Use fresh for best flavor
  • 8 slices bacon, cut in half
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch glass casserole dish.
  2. Gather the green beans into 16 small bundles, using about the same number of beans in each bundle.
  3. Wrap each bundle with a half slice of bacon, starting near one end and spiraling it around the center so the bundle holds together.
  4. Arrange the bundles seam-side down in the prepared casserole dish.
Baking
  1. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the bundles, then sprinkle the brown sugar across the top as evenly as possible.
  2. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the bacon is browned and caramelized and the green beans are tender.
  3. For extra-crisp bacon, broil for 1 to 2 minutes at the end, watching carefully.
Serving
  1. Spoon a little of the buttery glaze from the dish over the bundles before serving hot.

Notes

These bundles can also be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness. Optional: Add black pepper or red pepper flakes for spice, or cheese for extra flavor.
