Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure the butter is fully melted for best dough consistency.
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese Can experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 2 cups self-rising flour Substitute with gluten-free all-purpose flour for gluten-free version.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking tray with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the melted butter, shredded cheddar cheese, and self-rising flour until a thick dough forms. Use your hands to gently bring it together without overworking it.
  3. Scoop or pinch off small pieces of dough and roll them into bite-sized balls. Place them on the prepared baking tray with some space between each one.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the bites are puffed, golden brown around the edges, and the cheese is melted and lightly crisped.
  2. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm. Brush the tops with a touch of melted butter right before serving for extra richness.

Notes

These bites are great served warm right out of the oven and can be enjoyed with soups and salads. To store leftovers, cool completely and place in an airtight container; they will keep in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer and reheat in the oven before serving.
