Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish.
- Spread the dry egg noodles evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Scatter the diced smoked ham evenly over the noodles.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup and milk until smooth.
- Pour the soup mixture evenly over the noodles and ham, pressing the noodles down gently with the back of a spoon so they are mostly covered by the liquid.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil, stir gently to separate the noodles, then return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes more, until the noodles are tender and the top is lightly golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to settle and thicken slightly.
Notes
Serve hot with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables. For added flavor, sprinkle with fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
