Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 oz 12 oz (340 g) egg noodles
  • 1 lb 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small 1 small onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can 1 can (10.5 oz / 298 g) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup 1 cup (240 g) sour cream
  • 1 cup 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup 1 cup (115 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional) For garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, cooking until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the cooked beef mixture to the slow cooker. Pour the sour cream sauce over the top and stir gently to combine.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 2–3 hours, stirring once or twice if convenient. Avoid cooking too long, since the sour cream can separate and the sauce may become too thick.
  2. About 15–20 minutes before serving, cook the egg noodles according to the package directions until just tender. Drain well.
  3. Stir the cooked noodles and shredded cheddar cheese into the slow cooker. Cover and let everything heat together for about 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the noodles are coated in the creamy sauce.
  4. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it for longer storage, but the texture of the noodles may change slightly upon reheating. To add more veggies, consider stirring in some frozen peas or spinach just before serving. Be careful not to overcook the noodles; they should be al dente since they will continue to cook once combined with the sauce. If you like it spicier, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes or some hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
