Ingredients

  • For the Chicken:
  • 8 Chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • To taste: Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • For the Sticky Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/3 cup Soy sauce
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Chili flakes optional
  • The Slurry: 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water

Method

  1. The Golden Sear: Season the drumsticks with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until the skin is golden and crisp. This locks in the juices!
  2. Whisk the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, black pepper, and chili flakes until smooth and combined.
  3. Slow Cook: Place the seared drumsticks into your slow cooker. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the top, ensuring each piece is covered. Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours (or HIGH for 2–3 hours) until the meat is incredibly tender.
  4. Thicken the Magic: Carefully remove the chicken and set aside. Pour the remaining liquid from the slow cooker into a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  5. The Glossy Finish: Whisk in the cornstarch slurry. Continue to simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce transforms into a thick, mahogany-colored glaze.
  6. Coat & Garnish: Return the chicken to the sauce and toss gently until every drumstick is fully lacquered.
  7. Serve: Pile the drumsticks high and spoon extra glaze over the top. Serve immediately while hot and steaming!
