Ingredients

For the beef mixture
  • 2 pounds ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
For the sauce
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 10.5 ounces condensed French onion soup Can substitute with beef broth for a different flavor.
  • 1 cup ketchup Adjust the amount for sweetness to your liking.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Break the meat into crumbles as it cooks.
  2. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Transfer the cooked beef and onion to the slow cooker.
  4. Add the brown gravy mix, condensed French onion soup, and ketchup. Stir well until everything is combined.
Cooking
  1. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours. Stir once or twice if you can. The dish is ready when the flavors meld, and the sauce is thick and bubbly.
