Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Beef

Ingredients
  

  • 3 –4 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Season the Beef
  2. Pat the chuck roast dry with paper towels. Season all sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Step 2: Sear the Beef
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the roast for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
  5. Step 3: Add to Slow Cooker
  6. Place sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  7. Add the beef roast on top.
  8. In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
  9. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef.
  10. Step 4: Slow Cook
  11. Cover and cook:
  12. LOW for 8–10 hours or
  13. HIGH for 5–6 hours
  14. Cook until the beef becomes tender and shreds easily.
  15. Step 5: Shred the Beef
  16. Remove the beef from the slow cooker.
  17. Shred with two forks.
  18. Return the shredded beef to the sauce and stir well.
  19. Let the beef sit in the sauce for 10–15 minutes before serving.
