Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Brown the sausage in a skillet, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain thoroughly and let cool.
- Unroll the dough and press together any perforations if necessary.
- Spread the sausage over one half of the dough and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press gently.
- Cut the filled dough into long strips and carefully twist each strip several times.
Baking
- Arrange the twists on the baking sheet and brush lightly with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the pastry is puffed, crisp, and golden.
- Cool for about 5 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Serve warm with dipping sauces like mustard, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing. To store leftovers, cool completely and place in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for longer storage. Tips: Drain the sausage thoroughly to avoid soggy pastry and use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough neatly.
