Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and brown sugar. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and butter. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Baking
- Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the pretzel crust. Bake for another 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are gently bubbling.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel and let them soften for 2 to 3 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate evenly and sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
Cooling
- Allow the bars to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
Notes
Serve chilled or at room temperature. For storage, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
