Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, stir together the brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until fully combined. The batter will be thick.
- Spread about two-thirds of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Scatter the whole unwrapped mini peanut butter cups across the batter in an even layer.
- Drop the remaining brownie batter over the top in spoonfuls and gently spread it to partially cover the peanut butter cups.
Baking
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the center is set. A toothpick inserted into the brownie portion should come out with moist crumbs but not wet batter.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares. For cleaner slices, chill them for 30 minutes after cooling, then cut and serve.
Notes
For added flavor, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. You can also sprinkle some sea salt on top for a sweet and salty contrast. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for a week.
