Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
- Spread the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until hot and beginning to turn crisp and golden.
Cooking
- While the tots bake, cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon until fully browned. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the taco seasoning and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the meat is evenly coated and fragrant.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and top each tater tot, or the surface of the tots overall, with spoonfuls of the seasoned beef.
- Sprinkle the cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bites are hot and crisp.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crunch, make sure the tater tots are spread out in a single layer on the baking sheet without crowding them. Customize with additional toppings like diced tomatoes or jalapeños. Keep an eye on the cheese to prevent it from burning.
