Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed Make sure fully thawed before using.
  • 1 pound ground beef Can be seasoned with favorite spices.
  • 1 cup shredded white cheese, such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack Different cheeses can be used.
  • 1 large egg, beaten Used for brushing on top of twists.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain any excess grease and let the beef cool for a few minutes.
Assembly
  1. Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and gently roll it just enough to smooth the seams.
  2. Spread the cooled cooked beef evenly over half of the pastry, then sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef.
  3. Fold the empty half of the pastry over the filling and press lightly. Cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  4. Twist each strip several times and place the twists on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and deep golden brown with melted cheese tucked into the layers.
  2. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Best served warm, can be paired with dipping sauces like marinara or ranch. To store leftovers, cool completely and place in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
