  • 3 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled Preferred for their creamy texture.
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Plus extra for greasing the mold.
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1.5 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Optional, but recommended.
  • Butter or neutral oil For greasing the ring mold.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Generously grease a ring mold or Bundt pan with butter or neutral oil.
  3. Slice the potatoes into thin, even rounds.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, heavy cream, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  5. Add the potato slices and toss them gently until they are coated with the mixture.
Layering and Baking
  1. Arrange the first layer of potato slices neatly in the mold.
  2. Continue layering the slices, spooning the remaining cream mixture over each layer.
  3. Cover the mold with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Uncover and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes until golden and tender.
Serving
  1. Let the mold cool for 10-15 minutes.
  2. To unmold, run a knife around the edges, place a warm serving plate over the mold, invert, and lift the mold.
  3. Cut into wedges and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve warm as a side dish. Pairs nicely with roasted meats, grilled vegetables, or salads. You can sprinkle fresh herbs like parsley or chives on top for added flavor.
