Low Carb Philly Cheese Steak Casserole

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 2 medium green bell peppers, sliced into strips
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz white button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp sal t
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Add the softened cream cheese, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cream cheese is fully melted and ingredients are well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Lay the slices of provolone cheese across the top of the mixture.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  9. Optional: Broil for 2 minutes to brown the cheese before serving.
