Ingredients
  

For the Pizza
  • 1 14–16 ounce prepared pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded provolone cheese (optional) Can be omitted if desired.
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms (optional) Can be omitted if desired.
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional) For extra heat if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while it heats.
  2. Roll the pizza dough into a 12–14-inch circle and place it on parchment paper or a lightly floured pizza peel.
  3. Brush the outer edge of the crust with olive oil.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
  5. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella over the sauce.
  6. Evenly distribute the cooked Italian sausage, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms over the cheese.
  7. Top with the remaining mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
Baking
  1. Transfer the pizza to the hot pizza stone or baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  3. Remove from the oven and let the pizza rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Garnishing and Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust. Pre-cook your veggies to prevent excess moisture. Experiment with different types of cheeses for varied flavors. You can make a vegetarian version by omitting the meats and adding more vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
