Ground Beef Lo Mein

  • 1 lb Ground Beef, lean 85/15 or 90/10
  • 8 oz Lo Mein Noodles, or spaghetti, linguine, or ramen noodles
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce, low sodium recommended
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce, or hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger, grated
  • 2 cups Vegetables, optional, such as cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, green onions Feel free to customize with your favorite veggies
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar, optional
  • 1 tbsp Water, a splash for the sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oil, for tossing noodles to prevent sticking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and toss lightly with a few drops of oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef. Stir constantly for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant.
Cooking
  1. Add sliced vegetables and stir-fry for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly tender but crisp.
  2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, a splash of water, optional brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour over beef and vegetables, simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss with tongs or chopsticks until fully coated.
  4. Drizzle more sesame oil on top and add sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Use fresh vegetables for the best texture and flavor. Feel free to add a little chili sauce for extra heat if you prefer a spicier dish. Experiment with different types of noodles based on your preferences. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
