Ingredients
  

  • 2 ribeye steaks 1–1.5 inches thick
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter optional
  • 2 garlic cloves optional
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme optional

Method
 

  1. Bring Steak to Room Temperature
  2. Take the ribeye steaks out of the fridge 30–40 minutes before grilling.
  3. Season the Steak
  4. Pat the steaks dry. Rub with olive oil, then add salt and black pepper on all sides.
  5. Preheat the Grill
  6. Heat your grill to high heat (about 450–500°F). Clean and oil the grates.
  7. Sear the Steak
  8. Place steaks on the grill. Cook for 3–4 minutes without moving them. Flip once.
  9. Finish Cooking
  10. Move steaks to medium heat. Cook until desired doneness:
  11. Rare: 125°F
  12. Medium rare: 135°F
  13. Medium: 145°F
  14. Add Butter (Optional)
  15. Top with butter, garlic, and herbs during the last minute for extra flavor.
  16. Rest the Steak
  17. Remove from grill and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
