Preparation
- Wash the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized pieces.
- Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage and cut it into chunky wedges.
Cooking
- Place the potatoes in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
- Arrange the cabbage over the potatoes, gently pressing it down.
- Scatter the sliced smoked sausage over the cabbage, then pour the chicken broth around the edges and over the ingredients.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
- Check if the dish is ready when the potatoes can be pierced easily and the cabbage is tender.
Serving
- Gently stir everything together before serving.
Notes
Best served warm, this dish pairs well with crusty bread or a fresh salad. Allow leftovers to cool completely before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove.
