Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Wash and scrub the potatoes well, then pat them dry.
- Insert a skewer lengthwise through each potato.
- Using a small sharp knife, cut around each potato in a spiral from one end to the other, then gently pull the slices apart to form even twisted sticks.
Baking
- Brush the twisted potatoes all over with olive oil, ensuring some oil gets down between the slices.
- Sprinkle evenly with the coarse salt.
- Arrange the potatoes on the prepared baking sheet without them touching.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, turning the pan once halfway through, until the edges are deep golden brown and crisp and the centers are tender.
- Let them cool for 2 to 3 minutes, then transfer to a serving plate and serve warm.
Notes
Serve with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, ranch dressing, or garlic aioli. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
