Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
  6. Fold in the finely chopped pecans.
  7. Shape the dough into approximately 1-inch balls and arrange them on the prepared baking sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 14-17 minutes, until the cookies are set.
  2. Cool for about 5 minutes, then carefully roll the warm cookies in powdered sugar.
  3. Cool completely and roll in powdered sugar a second time before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze them for up to 3 months. Roll them in powdered sugar again after thawing. For variations, swap nuts or add chocolate chips.
