  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups oat flakes Quick oats can be used, but texture may vary.
  • 1 cup cherry spread (Double Fruit type) Feel free to adjust according to preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, white flour, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture while mixing on low speed.

  6. Press the rest of the mixture firmly into a lightly buttered 13" x 9" (33 cm x 23 cm) pan.
  7. Spread the cherry spread evenly over the oat mixture.
  8. Sprinkle the reserved oat mixture on top of the cherry spread.
Baking

  2. After baking, place the pan on a wire rack and allow it to cool completely.
  3. Once cooled, cut into bars.
