  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened for easy spreading.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds great flavor.

  • 0.25 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For gooeyness.
  • 0.5 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese For a rich flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley For garnish, optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt until well combined.
  3. Spread the garlic butter generously over one side of each slice of Texas toast.
  4. Arrange the bread butter-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar evenly over the tops.
Baking
  1. Place in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the bread is crisp around the edges and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. For a golden, bubbly top, switch the oven to broil and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely so the cheese doesn't burn.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Let the toast cool for a minute or two, then serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, use a toaster oven or regular oven to maintain crispiness. Customize with different cheeses or add toppings like bacon bits or jalapeƱos.
