Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the sliced onions in olive oil until golden brown and softened, approximately 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce; mix by hand until just incorporated.
Form the beef mixture into 4 equal patties, approximately 1 inch thick.
Arrange the patties in a single layer in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Pour the beef broth into the bottom of the dish around the patties.
Top each patty with a generous portion of the sautéed onions.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 155°F (68°C).
Distribute the shredded cheese over the top of the onions on each patty.
Bake for an additional 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the internal temperature of the beef reaches 160°F (71°C).
