Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 13.8 oz refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup burger sauce or thousand island dressing
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle chips, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg , beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is fully cooked and onions are translucent.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet and season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pizza dough and stretch it into a 12x9 inch rectangle.
  5. Spread the burger sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border at the edges.
  6. Distribute the cooked beef mixture, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped pickles evenly over the sauce.
  7. Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seam to seal.
  8. Using a serrated knife, cut the log into 1-inch thick slices to create 24 pinwheels.
  9. Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops and sides of the dough with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  11. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
