Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 8 ounces softened block-style cream cheese Make sure it's at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded Freshly shredded cheese melts better.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
Flavorings
  • 1 cup green olives, drained and chopped Pat dry if they’re holding a lot of brine.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adjust to taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Drain the olives well and chop them into small pieces. Pat them dry if they’re holding a lot of brine.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream, stirring until smooth.
  3. Fold the shredded cheddar into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the chopped olives and seasonings, stirring gently until evenly distributed. Taste and adjust salt if necessary.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Let it stand at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving if it becomes too firm.

Notes

Serve with crackers, chips, vegetable sticks, or spread on bread. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 5 days. If the dip becomes too firm, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften before serving again. You can vary the recipe with different types of cheese or by adding chopped pimentos or jalapeños for extra flavor.
