Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Peel and dice about 2 medium apples into small pieces. Toss them with a teaspoon of flour.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture without overmixing.
- Fold in the diced apples gently.
Baking
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon if desired.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool on a wire rack for another 30–45 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, plain or with butter or cream cheese.
Notes
Make sure your apples are fresh for the best flavor. Don't overmix the batter; this keeps the bread light and fluffy. You can add nuts for extra crunch. Variations include adding raisins or swapping some flour for whole wheat.
