Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 large yellow or white onions (thinly sliced)
Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

Method

Preparation
  1. Layer the sliced onions in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Arrange the pork chops on top of the onions.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and apple cider vinegar until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture over the pork chops and onions.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until the pork is tender.
  2. Once cooked, remove the chops with a spatula.
  3. Stir the onions into the sauce and let it sit for 15-20 minutes on WARM or LOW for a thicker glaze.
  4. Serve the pork chops with onions and the sweet and sour glaze.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the pork chops in the brown sugar and apple cider vinegar mixture overnight before cooking. Make sure the pork chops are not overcrowded in the slow cooker. If you prefer a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze for an extra kick.
