Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 9 pieces raw dry lasagna noodles, broken to fit the dish
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage Can substitute with turkey or a vegetarian option.
  • 24 ounces pasta sauce Use your favorite brand or homemade.
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to use a blend of cheeses.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until it’s browned and fully cooked. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the pasta sauce and let it warm through for 1 to 2 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a deep 9x13-inch glass casserole dish.
  2. Add a layer of broken raw lasagna noodles, then dollop some ricotta on top, spoon over more sauce, and sprinkle with mozzarella.
  3. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and the remaining mozzarella on top.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with foil.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the noodles are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm, pairs well with a side salad and garlic bread. You can garnish with fresh basil or parsley for added flavor.
