Preparation
- In a small bowl, break up the drained tuna with a fork and stir in the mayonnaise until creamy.
- Lay the slices of bread on the counter. Divide the tuna mixture evenly over 2 slices.
- Top each tuna-covered slice with 2 slices of cheese, overlapping them slightly.
- Place the remaining slices of bread on top to make two sandwiches and gently press together.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sandwiches without butter.
- Cook until the bottom is golden and crisp, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook until the second side is deeply golden and the cheese is melted, another 3 to 4 minutes.
- Transfer the sandwiches to a plate, let sit for a minute, then cut in half and serve.
Notes
For a crunch, serve with potato chips or pickles. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet or microwave.
