Ingredients

For the base
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the topping
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch glass baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter together until the mixture looks evenly moistened and holds together when pressed.
  3. Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish to form a dense base.
  4. In a small bowl, stir the sweetened condensed milk with the vanilla until combined.
  5. Pour the sweetened condensed milk mixture evenly over the crumb base.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is golden around the edges and just set in the center with a glossy, gooey finish.
  2. Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares or slabs. For neat cuts, chill the dish for 30 to 60 minutes before serving.

Notes

Press the graham cracker mixture down firmly to create a solid base. Cool completely before cutting to avoid messy edges. For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of salt to the graham cracker mixture.
