Ingredients

For the pie
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust Can use store-bought or homemade crust
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream Use room temperature for smoother filling

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch glass pie plate if it is not already fitted. Crimp the edges as desired.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and flour until no lumps remain and the flour is evenly distributed.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, whisking continuously, until you have a smooth, thick, pourable filling.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and carefully transfer the pie to the oven.
Baking
  1. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until the top is puffed and golden with bubbling edges, and the center still has a slight jiggle.
  2. Cool the pie on a rack until set before slicing.

Notes

You can serve this sugar pie warm or cold. Top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an added treat. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days, or freeze individual slices wrapped well.
