For the Caramel Sauce
  • 2 cups water Use for boiling the dumplings
  • 1 cup brown sugar Brown sugar gives a rich flavor
For the Dumplings
  • 1 tablespoon butter Melted butter for drizzling
  • 2 cups biscuit mix Or substitute with regular flour + leavening agent

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine the water and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix the biscuit mix with water according to the package instructions to form a soft dough.
Cooking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the boiling caramel mixture.
  2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
  3. Drizzle melted butter over the dumplings before serving.

Notes

These dumplings are best enjoyed warm with caramel sauce, and can be served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently with a splash of water.
