Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting) Use more for dusting surfaces.
  • 1.5 cups plain Greek yogurt (thick, full-fat or 2%) Ensure yogurt is thick for best results.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the self-rising flour and make a well in the center to add the Greek yogurt.
  3. Stir the yogurt and flour together until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out, sprinkling more flour on top.
  5. Knead the dough gently for 1–2 minutes until it becomes a soft ball.
  6. Pat the dough into a thick disc and cut it into 6 wedges.
  7. Roll each piece into a rope and form a ring, pinching the ends to seal.
  8. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet. Optionally, brush the tops with yogurt or water for a shinier crust.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until puffed and lightly golden.
  10. Broil on low for 1–3 minutes for a richer color.
  11. Let them cool for 10–15 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

You can enjoy bagels as they are or with toppings like cream cheese, avocado, or smoked salmon. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
